What's Auto Hold on Mazda?

The AUTOHOLD function automatically holds the vehicle stopped, even if you take your foot off the brake pedal. This function can be best used while stopped in traffic or at a traffic light.

What's the point of auto hold?

When you brake your car to a standstill position, Auto Hold retains the last-applied braking pressure. You can take your foot off the brake, and all four-wheel brakes will stay on. If the ABS wheel speed sensors detect any rolling, braking force is automatically increased until the car comes to a standstill again.

Is auto hold bad for car?

Its great for stop and go traffic, but I think it does cause more wear on the parking brakes when it is used. Unlike using the brakes pedal during stop and go which is break and then make, the auto hold is make and then break, meaning you have to gas the car before the parking breaks will let go.
