When Can I Get on Redds Boat?

Redd will begin appearing on your island with the arrival of Animal Crossing New Horizon's 1.2 update, introduced in April 2020, which also adds Leif and the Nature Day event to the game. As with the likes of Saharah and Label, Redd will appear on your island at random.

Can you get on Redd's boat?

When Redd does appear, his ship will be parked on the 'secret' beach on the far north of the island, behind the cliffs. However, for this first visit, the ship will be inaccessible. Instead, you need to track down Redd, who is roaming the island.

How do I get permission to Redd's boat?

Head up to the secret beach area at the top of the island map and there will be a brand new boat that wasn't there before. If a player tries to access the boat right away they will be stopped short with a message about its mysteriousness and that they should ask for permission first.
