When Did Fandango Buy Vudu?

Last year, movie ticketing and discovery business Fandango, a division of NBCUniversal, bought the on-demand video streaming service Vudu from Walmart, after the retailer had failed to capitalize on the service it had first acquired in 2010 for $100 million.

When did Vudu become Fandango?

Vudu was purchased by Fandango, a company previously primarily known for its movie ticket sales, in April of 2020. Though the amount of the sale was not disclosed, Fandango's purchase (from Walmart, no less) seemed to spell the end of Vudu.

Is Vudu and FandangoNow the same?

Starting Tuesday, the newly updated Vudu will replace FandangoNow as the official movie and TV store on Roku. Vudu uses Roku Pay, the streaming platform's in-app payment system. In addition, FandangoNow customers can now transfer their accounts and movie and TV collections to Vudu.
