The flowers appear on long stems with dangling bi-colored tubular flowers in winter and spring. Grown in a pot, it generally stays 6 inches tall, but grows larger in its native habitat. Grow in pots with several drainage holes in a medium suitable for cacti and succulents.
Does Gasteria bloom?
Gasteria information says the plants flower in spring, with blossoms shaped similarily to the stomach, hence the name of Gasteria (“gaster” meaning stomach). Gasteria blooms are similar to those of Haworthia and Aloe.
How often should I water Gasteria?
Water: Water evenly and generously in the summer, letting the soil dry out between waterings. In the winter, reduce watering to every other month, but do not stop watering. Never allow water to collect in between the leaves. Temperature: Warmer summers but cool in the winter, down to 50 ˚F (10 ˚C).
