LUTALYSE Injection is indicated for its abortifacient effect in feedlot and other non-lactating cattle during the first 100 days of gestation. Inject a dose of 25 mg dinoprost (5 mL) intramuscularly. Cattle that abort will abort within 35 days of injection.

An injection of Lutalyse causes the corpus luteum to regress earlier than normal. This elimi- nates the source of progesterone. Usually, in 2 to 5 days after receiving Lutalyse, the female comes into heat and is ready for breeding.

Cattle that abort will abort within 35 days of injection. Commercial cattle were palpated per rectum for pregnancy in six feedlots. The percent of pregnant cattle in each feedlot less than 100 days of gestation ranged between 26 and 84; 80% or more of the pregnant cattle were less than 150 days of gestation.
