When Does Butterweed Bloom?

The blooming period occurs from mid-spring to early summer, lasting about 1-2 months. The pleasant floral scent of the flowerheads resembles the fragrance of buttercups. After the blooming period, the flowerheads are replaced by achenes with small tufts of white hair.

Is butterweed invasive?

Invasive isn't always alien. It is butterweed season and the fallow fields and roadside ditches are a mass of yellow. Packera glabella is a native plant for most of North America east of the Rockies and for the next few weeks these yellow flowers will be everywhere.
