When Should I Take Humulin

Humulin® I is a basal insulin which means it works continuously throughout the day to provide blood glucose control between meals. Humulin® I can be injected either once or twice daily according to your needs. The most common time to inject is before bed. However, it can be taken before breakfast or the evening meal.

When should you not give Humulin?

Before taking this medicine You should not use Humulin R if you are allergic to insulin, or if you are having an episode of hypoglycemia (low blood sugar). Humulin R is not approved for use by anyone younger than 2 years old. Humulin R should not be used to treat type 2 diabetes in a child of any age.

How quickly does Humulin work?

Humulin N. An intermediate-acting insulin that: Starts to work within 2 to 4 hours after injection. Peaks in 4 to 12 hours.
