When Was Anglesey Abbey Built?

Anglesey Abbey is believed to have been founded by Henry 1 in 1135 as the hospital of St. Mary. In the early 13th Century it was converted into a priory of Augustinian canons (it was never strictly speaking an Abbey).

Does anyone live in Anglesey Abbey?

The last private owner was Lord Fairhaven who lived in the house from 1926 to 1966. He made extensive additions to the house to accommodate his collection of furniture, art, books and objets d'art, and landscaped the grounds. When he died he left the house and its contents to the National Trust.

Can you take dogs to Anglesey Abbey?

Please note that dogs (with the exception of assistance dogs) are unfortunately not allowed in the house or gardens at Anglesey Abbey.
