When Was Baffin Island Discovered?

It is administered as part of Baffin region, Nunavut territory, Canada. The Arctic island is believed to have been visited by Norse explorers in the 11th century and sighted by the British explorer Martin (later Sir Martin) Frobisher during his search for a Northwest Passage (1576–78).
