Pearland High School is an American public high school, located in Pearland, Texas, south of Houston. It is one of three high schools in the Pearland Independent School District, and serves parts of Pearland and most of the city of Brookside Village.

When was the first school in Pearland built?

Built in 1894, the first Pearland school was a one-room wooden structure with a wood-burning stove and 23 students taught by Miss Nannie Rogers. More than a century later, the district has 23 campuses, 1,297 teachers and more than 21,000 students.

Who is Glenda Dawson High School named?

The school was named after former Texas Representative Glenda Dawson, who taught for 34 years at Pearland High School. In 2011, the school was rated "Recognized" by the Texas Education Agency. In 2014, it was awarded a national rank of 1,165th by US News and World Report, which puts it in the silver medal category.
