The bearded fireworm lives throughout the tropical coastal waters of the Atlantic Ocean. On the eastern side they are found from Algeria to Liberia, and on the western side from the southeast coast of the United States to Guyana, including the Gulf of Mexico and the Caribbean Sea.
Where are fireworms found?
They are found throughout the tropical western Atlantic as well as the mid-Atlantic. It can be found near ocean reefs and at depths of up to 150m. These worms are also common in the Mediterranean Sea, and in the coastal waters surrounding Cyprus and the Maltese archipelago.
Where do bearded Fireworms live?
The bearded fireworm Hermodice carunculata is found in the Caribbean Sea and the Gulf of Mexico, Ascension Island and the Azores in Atlantic Ocean, and in the Mediterranean and Red Seas (Fig. 2) (Polychaeta, 2008).
