Where Do Skuas Breed?

Breeds mainly in Iceland and on islands north of Great Britain; in North America, very seldom seen from shore, although it may be common far offshore during the winter. Closely related forms are common in the Southern Hemisphere, mostly in subantarctic regions.

Skuas nest on the ground in temperate and Arctic regions, and are long-distance migrants. They have even been sighted at the South Pole.

What is a group of skuas called?

It will directly attack and kill other seabirds, up to the size of Great Black-backed Gulls. It will fly at the head of a human or other intruder approaching its nest. A group of skuas are collectively known as a "shishkab" of skuas.
