Where Do Strictures Occur?

Stricture (narrowing of the urethra) can happen at any point from the bladder to the tip of the penis.

How do you detect strictures?

Urinalysis — looks for signs of infection, blood or cancer in your urine. Urinary flow test — measures the strength and amount of urine flow. Urethral ultrasound — evaluates the length of the stricture. Pelvic ultrasound — looks for the presence of urine in your bladder after urination.

Which areas along the urethra are the most common for strictures to occur?

Strictures can range from less than 1cm long to those that extend the entire length of the urethra. They can occur at any point along the urethra, but are most often seen in the bulbar region (region 3).
