The controversial R&B singer is in the spotlight once again due to all the criminal charges he is facing. This makes everyone wonder, where was R. Kelly when everything happened? Where did he live before? Where does he live now?

R. Kelly is currently incarcerated at the Metropolitan Correctional Center in Chicago, where he awaits multiple trials for his alleged crimes. For the time being, the singer is in custody to avoid risks such as him trying to harm, bribe, or threaten any possible witnesses.

The singer won the hearts of many fans with his mesmerizing melodies over the years. However, the alleged sex crimes against minors and his racketeering involvement earned him 18 criminal charges and possible life imprisonment. Living in Prison

R. Kelly entered prison in mid-2019. Nonetheless, he’s had a troublesome relationship with the law since the ’90s. Alleged sexual assault, domestic violence, and even accusations of running a sex cult are some of the crimes filed against him. 

Currently, R. Kelly is awaiting trial for 18 different charges in the Metropolitan Correctional Center of Chicago. The date for those trials is not clear yet because of the pandemic situation.

Right after the release of the documentary, the accusations against Kelly became stronger and more tangible, ending with his arrest. In this documentary, multiple women accused the singer of sexually abusing them; some of them were underage at the time. 

As expected, Kelly denied all the accusations on the docuseries. Unfortunately, he couldn’t avoid federal charges of alleged sex crimes, racketeering, child pornography, and more.

The court has not yet rendered a verdict on the case of R. Kelly already has denied bail petitions two different times. 

The first time in August 2019, the court denied the bail, as risks of witness tampering or Kelly trying to flee were too big. 

Once again in April 2020, R. Kelly’s attorney requested the release of his client due to concerns that he might contract the CoVID disease. However, a federal judge in New York denied this request because the reasons behind his incarceration had not changed in any way for that time.
