Where Does Sprains and Strains Occur?

Sprains happen most often in the ankle. However, if you fall and land on their hand, you can sprain your wrist. Skiing and other sports can make it more likely for you to sprain your thumb. Strains are most common in your back and the hamstring muscle in the back of your thigh.

Where does a strain injury occur?

A strain occurs when tendons (bands at the end of muscles that connect muscles to bones) get stretched or pulled away from the bone. These can also happen as a result of a fall or twist, but are more likely to happen over time as a result of over-using the muscles.

Where do sprains always occur on the body?

Although sprains can occur in both the upper and lower parts of the body, the most common site is the ankle.
