Where Is Maldon Salt from?

Maldon salt is a gourmet sea salt that has been harvested from the Blackwater estuary in the English town of Maldon since Roman times. Normally used as a finishing salt, it is prized for its clean, fresh flavour and large crunchy flakes.

What is so special about Maldon salt?

Its texture is wildly unique: Rather than evenly-sized granules, Maldon sea salt flakes are irregularly-shaped, pyramid-like crystals. Not only are they pretty to look at, they lend a lovely crunch to dishes. Their flavor isn't all salt. In fact, it's quite delicate and a bit briny.

Is Maldon salt British?

Salt makers born and bred, we've been hand harvesting our world famous sea salt flakes in the coastal town of Maldon since 1882. These twisting shorelines of England have been alive with salt making for almost a thousand years.
