Much of the story is set in County Donegal, the northernmost county in Ireland. It is a region next to the Atlantic Ocean, full of rugged coastlines, picturesque cliffs and mountains, and a generally wild landscape – which would surely provide an impressive and scenic backdrop.
Where in Donegal is the deceived set?
We know it is set in a small fictional town in Donegal called Knockdara. There is a Knockdara Park in Derry, where creator Lisa McGee is from, so it is possible that this inspired the name. While speaking to What'sOnTV, Emily Reid said: "The house is like a character in itself – it's the strangest, kookiest place!"
Where is the house in the deceived located?
During filming it was the real-life Holestone House in Doagh, a village and townland in County Antrim, that was used as the double for the house at Knockdara. According to Radio Times, Killyleagh Castle in Country Down was also used as a stand-in for Cambridge University and Dublin Event Hall.
