Who Bought Shaw Group

Houston-based McDermott International Inc. has sold the former pipe fabrication assets of The Shaw Group. The Woodlands-based Chicago Bridge & Iron acquired Louisiana-based Shaw for $3 billion in 2013, and McDermott acquired CB&I for $6 billion in 2018.

What happened to Shaw Group?

In July 2012 CB&I agreed to buy Shaw for approximately $3 billion. In December 2012 shareholders from both companies approved the transaction and it officially closed in February 2013. The Shaw Group has moved its headquarters from Baton Rouge, LA to Houston, TX.

When did CB&I buy Shaw?

CB&I and Shaw shareholders overwhelmingly approved the transaction in December 2012. “We are extremely pleased that the transaction to acquire Shaw is officially complete and we thank the shareholders for their support,” said Philip K. Asherman, President and CEO of CB&I.
