Who Created Bromine Element?

History. Antoine-Jérôme Balard discovered bromine while investigating some salty water from Montpellier, France. He took the concentrated residue which remained after most of the brine had evaporated and passed chlorine gas into it. In so doing he liberated an orange-red liquid which he deduced was a new element.

Who was the founder of bromine?

Two chemists, the German Carl Jacob Lowig and Frenchman Antoine Balard independently discovered bromine in the 19th century while studying natural salt waters. They crystallized the salts and saturated the remaining liquid with chlorine.

Is bromine a man made element?

Bromine is a naturally occurring element that can be found in many inorganic substances. Humans however, have many years ago started the introduction of organic bromines in the environment. These are all compounds that are not natural and can cause serious harm to human health and the environment.
