In north Minneapolis, a six-hour standoff with FBI investigators ended tragically on Thursday when Chue Feng Yang, 33, was shot and killed by a federal agent. Yang, who had barricaded himself in a home close to the intersection of Dowling and Dupont avenues, had resisted attempts by authorities to serve him with an arrest warrant.

He live-streamed a video of himself threatening authorities and wielding a shotgun while negotiations went on for many hours. In the video, he is also shown holding a prisoner while another lady inside the home is being treated for a fentanyl overdose.

According to the federal warrant, Chue Feng Yang was wanted for a carjacking and police chase that occurred in January, during which a puppy was thrown from the moving vehicle. The puppy, named Taho by deputies, had to be euthanized due to injuries sustained during the incident.

Local officials have clarified that no local agencies, including the Minneapolis Police Department and sheriff’s deputies, used their weapons during the standoff, although a deputy did discharge a less lethal launcher.

Chue Feng Yang was an American national. He has been in the news because he was shot and killed by a federal agent after a six-hour standoff with FBI investigators.

He was born on July 23, 1989, and was a native of Minnesota. He was also known by his English name, “Kevin.”

His criminal record includes convictions for burglary, theft of automobiles, unlawful possession of a handgun, and terrorist threats. He also has three active felony arrest warrants against him. In one of them, Chue Feng Yang and another person were charged with repeatedly shooting a dog with a BB pistol inside a stolen vehicle before leaving the injured animal behind.

He died on April 27, 2023. At the time of his death, he was just 33 years old.
