Early life

The model was born Joseph Jason Namakaeha Momoa on 1 August 1979 in Hawaii, United States. He is the son of Joseph Momoa (father) and Coni Lemke Momoa (mother). He is the only child in his family.

Momoa’s father was a painter, and his mother was a photographer. Unfortunately, his parents divorced when he was six months old. As a result, his mother moved to Norwalk, Iowa, to allow him to complete his elementary and high school education.

Jason was interested in biology from a young age. So, he took classes at a community college in Des Moines, Iowa. He then moved to Fort Collins, Colorado, to work as a waiter.

He was not satisfied with his current situation. He decided to return to Hawaii to reconnect with his father. The actor joined the University of Hawaii’s marine biology programme.
