According to The Tuscon Sentinel, Stephanie Grisham got her professional start as a spokeswoman for AAA. She got that job in 2007. She followed up that position with a job as the public information officer for Arizona State Attorney General Tom Horne.
“She began working for the Donald Trump campaign in May 2016, after the Legislature adjourned. Since Trump's election victory in November, Grisham first worked with the incoming president's transition team, and then as a deputy press secretary. She was named a "special assistant to the president" and communications director for the first lady on Monday,” wrote the outlet at the time.

According to Fox 10 Phoenix, Grisham bills herself as a “single mother of two children” after divorcing her husband. She also said that it was difficult to take the job with the Trump White House because it would require her being away from her younger son.
“When she joined the Trump campaign, Grisham already spent months away from her boys in Arizona. Her oldest has graduated, and is on his own. Her youngest, however, is nine, and still needs his mother around. "Sometimes, I just break down and cry. I miss them," said Grisham. "I know that in the future, this will be great for them and it will benefit them," the outlet reported.
