Evinrude motors parent company, Bombardier Recreational Products (BRP), announced last week that it would discontinue manufacturing of its Evinrude E-TEC and E-TEC G2 outboard engines. Instead, the company will focus on growing its boat brands and developing technology and innovation of other marine products.

Are Evinrude and Johnson outboards the same?

It has been owned since 2001 by the Canadian firm Bombardier Recreational Products. Bombardier stopped selling outboards under the Johnson brand after 2007, and moved all sales entirely to Evinrude Outboard Motors until they were discontinued in June 2020.

Are Evinrude outboards still being made?

BRP announced today it will discontinue production of Evinrude E-TEC and E-TEC G2 outboard engines and will re-orientate its marine business by focusing on the growth of its boat brands with new technology and innovative marine products.
