Who Runs Deaflympics

The games are sanctioned by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and competed by deaf athletes. Since the very first Deaflympics in the 1920s, the games are organised by the International Committee of Sports for the Deaf (Comite International des Sports des Sourds).

Deaflympics is an international multi-sport event, organized by the International Committee of the Sports for the Deaf (ICSD). The first edition, held in Paris in 1924, was also the first sporting event for people with special needs.

Who started the Paralympic movement?

The Paralympics developed after Sir Ludwig Guttmann organized a sports competition for British World War II veterans with spinal cord injuries in England in 1948. A follow-up competition took place in 1952, with athletes from the Netherlands joining the British competitors.
