Why Are Wells Grouted?

Purpose of Grouting
Provides sanitary protection for the water supply from surface or near-surface contamination sources. 2. Protects the water bearing formation by preventing movement of water between aquifers.

What purpose is served by grouting?

What is grout and why do you need it? Grout is used as a filler for the joints between tiles once the tile you are installing has been set. Most grouts are a powdered mix of cement, lime, color pigment and sometimes sand that hardens when mixed with water and left to cure.

Why do wells need to be sealed?

Before you hang up your work boots, you must seal your well to protect it from surface water contamination. Without proper sealing, surface water may enter the borehole and contaminate the well water. Shallow groundwater might also be contaminated, so sealing the upper section of the borehole will protect the well.
