5 Answers. In universe, because Dr. Strange saw all 14+ million possible futures and there was only one that led to victory for the Avengers and co--the one he took. Presumably taking any other path, including going back to warn the others, would lead to one of the futures wherein Thanos "won" forever.

Could TVA stop Thanos?

Yes, Thanos destroyed half of all life, but that's only because it was allowed in the TVA's Sacred Timeline. If Kang didn't want Thanos to carry out his plot, he could've easily stopped it. After all, the TVA is filled with useless Infinity Stones, reducing the items that gave Thanos his power to mere paperweights.
