Clouds form when the invisible water vapor in the air condenses into visible water droplets or ice crystals. For this to happen, the parcel of air must be saturated, i.e. unable to hold all the water it contains in vapor form, so it starts to condense into a liquid or solid form.
Why do clouds exist?
Clouds form in the atmosphere because air containing water vapor rises and cools. Water vapor in the air condenses into cloud particles under certain conditions, forming visible clouds. For a little cloud to form, certain meteorological conditions must be present.
Why do clouds form anywhere?
Clouds form when air in the atmosphere reaches the dew point. Clouds may form anywhere in the troposphere. Clouds that form on the ground are called fog.
