Why Do Hotels Use Soft Water?

The main benefit of a commercial water softener in a hotel is the laundry. Guests need a place to sleep, and they want it to be comfortable and sanitary. Soft water will lead to softer, fresher sheets that look brighter and last longer.

Do hotels soften water?

Some hotels will install water softeners on the boilers which feed the entire facility. This takes care of the laundry, restaurants and blends the cold hard water with soft hot water in the hotel rooms.

Why should you not drink soft water?

If you have a hardness of 200 mg/litre (or 200 ppm), a softener will add 92 mg of sodium to every litre of water. You have to remember that your drinking water will already contain some sodium, which is why adding more can make it unsafe to drink.
