Why Do Pigs Shake Their Heads

Head shaking can be persistent and lead to secondary ear damage such as aural haematomas (large blood blisters within the ear flap). Pigs can also become hypersensitive to the mites (usually 3-8 weeks after the initial infection) causing intense skin reactions of small red pimples covering their entire body.

Is it normal for pigs to shake?

Young piglets are often born with the whole body trembling and shaking to a variable extent. The consequences of this trembling will depend on its severity. The condition is known as Conditional Tremor or Myogenesis congenita.

Why do pigs flick their ears?
