In the movie It’s a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World, the characters are on the hunt to find buried treasure under crossed palms. Harry Snyder, In-N-Out’s founder rightfully felt that each restaurant is a treasure, so the palms mark the spot in an homage to one of his favorite movies.
Why does In-N-Out have two palm trees?
In the movie, characters race to find treasure that’s been buried under four crossed palm trees planted to resemble the letter “W.” “Because each In-N-Out store is Harry’s treasure, a tradition of planting crossed palm trees in front of most In-N-Out locations begins,” a 1972 history page entry said on the website.
WHY IS In-N-Out called In-N-Out?
Newly married Harry and Esther Snyder, founders of In-N-Out Burger, wanted to offer people a way of getting food without having to park, so they could just pop in and out and leave. Hence, the restaurant was named after that concept!
