Why Is Cortex of Kidney Dotted?

The nephron has two parts- a cup shaped body called malpighian corpuscle or renal corpuscle and a tubular part called renal tubule. The cortex has a dotted appearance because of the presence of these malpighian corpuscle. The striated appearance of the medulla is due to the renal tubule.

Why does cortex show dotted?

The Cortex of the kidney shows a dotted appearance because there are several complex structures in kidney which are known as Nephrons. All these Nephrons are microscopic; hence they cannot be seen by naked eyes.

Why is renal medulla striped?

The medulla consists of a number of medullary pyramids, named because of their triangular shape. These are striped in appearance because they contain microscopic coiled tubes called nephrons, the functional unit of the kidney . ... From the calyces the urine drains into the wider open space of the renal pelvis.
