Why Is Literacy a Curse

Illiteracy means inability to read and write, it is a curse because it is illiteracy that lowers down human being to the level of beast. It is compared to darkness because it darkens individual’s vision, outlook, behavior and in a word, all aspect of life.

Why is it bad to be illiterate?

Individuals with low levels of literacy are more likely to experience poorer employment opportunities and outcomes and lower income. As a result, they often face welfare dependency, low self-esteem, and higher levels of crime.

What happens due to illiteracy?

Illiteracy affects an individual in all areas of their life. An illiterate individual cannot read and write, and thus cannot join the workforce or may work as unskilled labour, lack awareness to make an informed decision which affects them and their community.
