Lint build up inside the dryer can cause some squealing and squeaking of the dryer belt and pulleys. This may require a service call to remove the back panel and to thoroughly clean the inside of the dryer. As the dryer ages, the belt and pulleys can wear, causing some squealing type sounds.
How do I stop my dryer from squeaking?
- Unplug the dryer.
- Remove the lint screen from the lint trap.
- Open the top panel of the dryer; you may need to pry the top open with a putty knife.
- Disconnect the wire harness plug.
- Remove the screws along the top edge that hold the front panel in place.
Can I still use my dryer if its squeaking?
If you feel any resistance or you hear squeaking, you‘ll need to replace your drum bearings. If you’ve noticed any of these symptoms, a call to your local dryer appliance repair technician is warranted.
