Why Is My Rabbits Urine Cloudy

The calcium is excreted in the urine in the form of calcium carbonate. This substance is what makes normal rabbit urine cloudy in appearance compared to the urine from a human, dog or cat. The calcium carbonate is the white residue seen on the cage paper after the urine is dry.

Is Cloudy rabbit pee normal?

This is why rabbit urine is often observed as being cloudy or white in colour. Passing cloudy urine can be normal for rabbits which are fed a high calcium diet or those rabbits which are slightly dehydrated.

Why is my rabbits pee thick and white?

Healthy rabbits excrete excess calcium salts via the renal system, and this can give the urine a chalky or opaque appearance. The urine will often dry to a white, chalky residue. Unless the residue is thick, pasty, and the color of mustard powder, this is normal, and should not be considered “sludge.”
