Why Vesicoureteral Reflux Causes?

The cause of this form of reflux is most often from failure of the bladder to empty properly, either due to a blockage or failure of the bladder muscle or damage to the nerves that control normal bladder emptying.

Why does VUR occur?

Primary VUR: The most common cause of primary VUR in children is an abnormal ureter. The flap-valve between your child's ureter and bladder does not close efficiently, so urine backs up toward the kidney.

Does vesicoureteral reflux go away?

Primary VUR can get better or go away as a child gets older. As a child grows, the entrance of the ureter into the bladder matures and the valve works better. In children with primary VUR, the valve between the ureter and the bladder does not close well, so urine comes back up the ureter toward the kidney.
