Weed and Feed products are supposed to prevent seeds from germinating and are also known to cause problems with established plants. Plus, you should NEVER using something like that in your veggie garden or anywhere near edibles.

Weed and feed sounds like a dream product — it kills lawn weeds and fertilizes with one quick application. However, even though the product is intended to kill only grassy and broadleaf weeds, the herbicides used in the weed and feed potentially can harm other plants, including woody plants such as trees.

Will weed killer hurt my garden?

This chemical kills the leaves and roots of mature weeds. It doesn’t stay in the soil, so if you apply it in the fall to the weeds, by next spring when you are ready to plant your vegetable garden it will not harm newly planted or emerging vegetable seedlings.
