Willson Contreras is a professional baseball catcher with the Chicago Cubs of Major League Baseball was born on May 13, 1992, in Puerto Cabello, Carabobo, Venezuela. His parents are Olga and William Contreras. His younger brother, William, is also a professional baseball player. Willy, as he is affectionately called, had humble beginnings. When he was younger, he did not attend an academy or seek professional assistance.

The catcher began playing on the streets with the help of his brothers. They’d practice for hours, and his perseverance and devotion paid off when he was invited to attend a baseball program operated by the Chicago Cubs in his home country. He was sixteen at the time. After impressing everyone at the academy, this young player signed as an international free agent with the Cubs in 2009.

That same year, he made his professional debut with the Dominican Summer League’s Cubs. He also played for the Boise Hawks, Kane County Cougars, Daytona Cubs, and Tennessee Smokies before making his MLB debut on June 17, 2016 with the Chicago Cubs. Willy, a two-time All-Star and World Series champion, has spent his whole career with the Cubs.
