The dazzling butterflies have returned to RHS Garden Wisley for another year providing a tropical haven for those who visit throughout winter. More than 50 species of free-flying butterflies will inhabit the tropical Zone of the Glasshouse as they land on plants, fruit and even people.

The famous Glasshouse at RHS Garden Wisley has reopened for visitors to explore. Covering the area of 10 tennis courts and 12m (40ft) high, the huge cathedral-like structure was among Surrey’s top tourists attractions closed during the coronavirus outbreak.

When was the glass house at Wisley built?
Designed by architect Peter van de Toorn Vrijthoff, the Glasshouse consists mainly of 11,000sq m of curved sheets of tempered glass, weighing a gargantuan 110 tonnes. Since it was officially opened by the the Queen in June 2007, the Glasshouse has become as iconic a part of Wisley as the much-loved Laboratory building.
Is RHS Wisley free?
Hello, If you are a Royal Horticultural Society member, you are entitled to free entrance to RHS Garden Wisley (and can bring a guest) at any time and as regularly as you wish. If not, the entrance fee is £12.20 per adult (for those aged over 16) at present for RHS Garden Wisley.
Is Wisley Flower Show free for members?
Free to RHS members. Tickets will need to be booked closer to the date.
Is Harlow Carr dog friendly?
For the safety of all our visitors, dogs are not allowed in the garden, with the exception of registered support dogs.
Can I bring my dog to Wisley glow?
Please note, dogs are not allowed in the garden at other times, except for assistance dogs. Dogs must be kept on a lead at all times. Dogs are not allowed in the children’s play areas. Please pick up after your dogs and place in bins provided.
Can you picnic at Wisley?
Yes you can take a picnic, we often have. There are lots of benches around the grounds as well as the open grass fields. The food available to buy is expensive so bringing your own is definitely a cheaper option.
