What does it mean if stoma is purple?

Necrosis occurs if the blood supply to the stoma is restricted. Initially the stoma will become a darker red/purple and may even turn black, which is an indication that the blood supply is impaired.

What does a purple blue stoma mean?

Sometimes there is a purple tinge to the urostomy pouch, leg bag or night drainage bottle. This happens when a certain type of bacteria is in the urine. It creates a red and blue by-product as it goes through its day. This causes the purple colour in the pouch.
